It was Harry Higel, a fiery outspoken man who was involved in bitter political fights, who gave Siesta Key its name. The beach sand of Siesta Key is made up of 99% quartz and is actually rated as one of the most attractive and beautiful beaches in the world. The place is nearly to Sarasota by only two bridges which makes it very convenient.
